HARDWOOD FLOORING

Nothing embodies Colorado living more than hardwood flooring! Hardwood flooring comes in a variety of species, sizes, textures, and colors. Hardwood flooring is one of the top improvements you can make to add immediate value to your home. Our team will help you pick out the best hardwood floor based on your preferences, the construction of your home, budget and vision for your ideal hardwoods.

When selecting a hardwood floor there are two main options:

Site Sand & Finished

Site sand and finished hardwood flooring is made of solid hardwood.  With this type of hardwood flooring you will select the species of wood, character grade, plank width, sealer/stain color and the finish sheen. Once all the selections are made, we install the raw hardwood and complete the sanding/sealing/finishing process at your home. This type of hardwood will give you a smooth consistent final look that can be repaired or refinished as needed for years to come.

Prefinished Hardwoods

Prefinished means that the hardwoods will have the stain, texturing, and finish already applied to the hardwood when you purchase the floor. Prefinished hardwoods come in numerous different species, sizes, styles, colors, grades and texture options.  Given that all the work to finish the floor is completed by the hardwood manufacture, this type of hardwood installs much faster than site sand and finished options and usually does not require any dry time after installation. Prefinished hardwoods add additional flexibility by coming in two different options: solid prefinished and engineered prefinished.

Engineered Hardwood Flooring

Engineered prefinished hardwoods have a top wear layer that is made of hardwood. The only difference is the engineered product’s core.  Engineered cores are made of varying layers of plywood or composite materials. This type of flooring can be installed on in-floor heat systems and over concrete. Depending on the product and style you are looking for, engineered products can also be much more cost effective.

Solid Hardwood Flooring

Solid prefinished hardwoods are solid wood throughout the entire floor. One key difference between prefinished and site sand and finished floors is the edge between each board. With any prefinished product you will have a beveled edge between each board. This gives prefinished hardwoods a unique look.

Bring Your Hardwoods Back To Life

Call us today to set up a free in-home consultation. We will complete an inspection and recommend what is best for your floor. There are two levels of hardwood refinishing:  buff and coat or a full refinish. If conditions allow, we can also repair water damage, wear and tear, and patch your existing hardwood floors. View our Hardwood Refinishing Project Gallery.

Buff & Coat

During this process our team does a thorough cleaning of the solid hardwood flooring.  Then the existing top layer of finish is removed by lightly sanding the floor.  The last step in the process is applying a new top coat of finish.  It is recommended that this process be completed every 3-5 years to properly maintain and protect your solid hardwoods.  This process will only refresh the top coat of the floor.  It will not remove large or deep scratches and will not restore the original color.

Full Refinish

For a full refinish we sand off the finish and a thin layer of actual wood from the existing floor. This exposes the raw wood.  We then use 3-5 different grits of sand paper to fully smooth out the new top layer of hardwood.  Once the sanding is complete, we apply sealer and finish.  A sand and refinish will remove deep scratches, discoloration and any damage that was on the surface of the flooring.  Damage that has affected more than the top surface may require board replacements during the refinish process in order to fully restore your floor.

Hardwood Repair

While hardwood floors are a long-lasting and durable flooring material, water damage, wear and tear, or remodeling can leave your hardwoods in need of some help. We can repair or patch most solid hardwood floors depending on the level and type of damage.

Every hardwood floor is different. Call us today to see what needs to be done to bring your hardwoods back to their original beauty.
